We are pleased to announce you the release of a new Settings section in your Zenchef Interface.
This update includes a major design improvement in the General page and the Closing Period page. Today's update also bring a brand new way to handle your services.
A NEW GENERAL PAGE
Thanks to the new YES and NO buttons, you can now easily enable the notifications that will inform you of a booking.
- Adding several email addresses for the email notifications
You can enter several email addresses at which you would like to receive the notifications. You just need to click "+" next to the email address (in this case, we entered ours).
A new field appears so you can enter an additional address and you can add many. Don't forget to save at the bottom of the page!
- Adding a phone number for the phone calls notifications
If you enable the phone notifications, you can choose the hours and the days during which you prefer not to be called. To do so, click Add a Time Slot.

In the example below, we chose not to be contacted between 12 and 2 everyday.
- Blocking the bookings in advance (New feature!)
You can now prevent customers from booking X hours, X weeks or W months in advance. This feature allows you to prevent reservations too long before the selected date.
Example: For instance, if you don't want customers to book in your restaurant one month before, go to Lock boookings in the General page, then select 1 month.
If you enter 1 month, when customers are on your booking system on January 12th, they won't be able to choose a reservation date later than February 12th. In other words, they will have to select a day within the month following January 2016.
There again, don't forget to save at the bottom of the page!
A NEW PAGE DEDICATED TO SERVICES
- Adding Services
To add a service, click the following button:
When the new window opens up, enter the service (Lunch, Dinner...), as well as the days and the hours available for the bookings with respect to the service you're adding. Once it's done, Save.
If for instance, Friday and Saturday, the service hours for Lunch are different from the the rest of the week, you need to create a specific service for the weekend, by clicking Add a service again.
In the window, only tick Friday and Saturday boxes, enter the hours and save.
Important note: Since you are creating a specific service for Friday and Saturday evening, don't forget to untick them in the existing Lunch service. To do so, click on the service in the table and deselect Friday and Saturday.
- Adding Exceptions
If you plan a specific service, different from the other days of the week and limited in time, you will have to create it by clicking Add an exception, below the services table:
Once you clicked, a window opens up. You need to enter the date, the service ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner ), the new hours of the service, and the number of covers with respect to the specific service that is different from the other ones and from the others days.
Example : Let's say You are planning to open the restaurant and take bookings for Sunday February 14 and you are usually closed on Sunday.
Tick °For a day, Select 02/14/2016 in the date field, select Evening, enter the first and last booking hour, as well as the minimum and maximum number of covers. You can also add a message, and click Create Exception to save.
It is also possible to amend a particular service for a certain period of time.
Example: For instance, if during July and August 2016, you plan a 6PM-12PM evening service on Friday and Saturday (while you're usually open from 7PM-10.30 PM on Friday and Saturday), select °For a period, choose a start date, an end date (in our example, July 1 and August 31 ), and replace the usual hours 7PM to 10h30 PM by the new hours. Don't forget to save!
A NEW CLOSING PERIOD SECTION
- Exceptional closing times for specific a day and service
To block off the bookings exceptionally for a service or a date in particular, click Add a Closing Time, enter the date in the dates fields, and select the right service or all of them if you're closed the whole day. Make sure you Save the change so customers won't be able to make a reservation for this day.
Example : For instance, if you are exceptionally closed on January 14, fill in the blanks just like that:
If the restaurant is just closed or full for Lunch on January 14, only select Lunch so customers can book for the other services.
- Exceptional closing days
The process to block off the reservations during several days remains the same. You need to click Add a Closing Time, enter the start date, the end date as well as the service(s) you would like to close (Lunch and/or Dinner). Make sure you save the change!
