What you need to know
The Dynamic Segments feature in Zenchef’s Marketing Suite allows you to personalize your marketing efforts by creating customer segments based on specific criteria such as booking history, preferences, tags, and more. This tool helps you engage your customers more effectively and strengthen their loyalty through targeted, personalized campaigns.
1. Why use Dynamic Segments?
Dynamic Segments help restaurants overcome challenges in customer engagement by enabling:
- Precise Targeting: Group customers by preferences, behavior, and demographics.
- Automation: Automatically update segments as customer data changes.
- Personalization: Craft campaigns tailored to the specific needs of each customer group.
2. How Does It Work?
Dynamic Segments can be created using rules based on the following:
- Email Opt-In/Out: Reach customers who consent to receive communications.
- Number of Reservations: Engage with frequent or occasional visitors.
- Reservation Dates: Target customers based on specific booking periods.
- Tags: Use custom tags to group customers by preferences or other attributes.
- Average Reviews: Focus on customers with certain review scores to enhance their experience or capitalize on positive feedback.
You can choose between:
- Dynamic Segments: Continuously updated to include customers meeting the defined rules.
- Static Segments: Fixed lists that do not change after creation.
3. Creating a Segment
To create a custom segment:
- Go to Guest → Marketing → Segments in your Zenchef dashboard.
- Click on "Create a Segment."
- Define a name, type (Dynamic or Static), and the rules.
- Example: Create a segment for guests who visited frequently in the past but haven’t returned in over a year.
- Save your segment and wait for processing.
For restaurants with multiple venues, you can create segments across all locations if the "Share Customer File" feature is activated.
4. Using Segments
- Email Campaigns: Select your segments when creating a new campaign under Guest → Marketing → Campaigns.
- Exporting for Other Tools: Export the desired segment to use with newsletters or SMS campaigns.
5. Benefits of Dynamic Segments
- Personalization: Deliver tailored campaigns to specific customer groups.
- Efficiency: Automate customer grouping, saving time and resources.
- Increased Engagement: Build loyalty and encourage repeat visits through targeted communication.
- Flexibility: Combine multiple criteria to refine your segments.
