Why is an integration with Smartbox important?
- An additional service to generate reservations and let new guests discover your restaurant.
- The partner is able to display the availability of the restaurant and let guests create bookings. Therefore the restaurant has all their reservations within Zenchef so the occupancy of the restaurant is always up to date and Zenchef can act as the single source of truth for all reservations.
What does the integration with Smartbox include?
Integrating your Zenchef restaurant with your Smartbox account will allow for Smartbox Beneficiaries to make an instant reservation at your restaurant without needing to make a phone call to check for availability. Enabling this integration will provide Smartbox access to your restaurant availability and will enable Smartbox to make reservations that will appear directly in your Zenchef environment.
Reservation flow
Beneficiaries will see your Zenchef experiences listed as gastro experiences with instant reservation.
When they select the experience they will see any upgrade options, then they will be prompted to select a data & time. This availability data will come directly from your Zenchef availability and then it is filtered by an availability restrictions you have provided to us.
Once the guest has selected their date & time, they will be prompted to fill out their details and make a payment if they have chosen an upgrade. Once the reservation is successful on Smartbox the reservation will appear on your Zenchef interface.
This reservation will include the following details:
- The comment on the booking will include the Smartbox voucher number along with any components attached the the experience such as a bottle of wine, dessert etc.
- The guests last name will include the Smartbox voucher number.
Reservation statusses
If the date or time of the reservation is updated on Zenchef, these changes will also be reflected on the Smartbox reservation. If the reservation is cancelled via Zenchef, this cancellation will also be applied to the Smartbox reservation.

How do I set up the integration with Smartbox?
You can activate the integration with Smartbox in your Zenchef environment via settings and the partner tab. You will find the partner under the category 'Reservation services'.
- Click on the connect button next to the partner.
- Click on the connect button next to Webhook reservation and add the URL https://experience-engine.smartbox.com/zenchef/webhook/booking-event
- You must provide your Zenchef restaurantId to Smartbox. You can find your Zenchef restaurantId at top of this page.
- If you are an existing Smartbox customer with existing experiences, Smartbox can connect your existing restaurant experiences to your Zenchef restaurant, allowing instant booking for the experience through Smartbox.
