1. Identifying a Negative Balance

When your balance turns negative, a clear visual alert appears in your back office to notify you before any service disruption occurs.

If your payout balance becomes negative, an orange banner will appear at the top of your Zenchef back office. This banner is designed to catch your attention immediately so you can take action without delay.

The banner includes a direct call-to-action button that redirects you to the Revenue > Accounting page, where you can view the details of your balance and take the necessary steps to resolve it.

From the Accounting page, you can restore a positive balance securely in just a few clicks.

Once on the Revenue > Accounting page, you will find:

  • A clear explanation of your current balance situation, written in plain language.

  • A tips block with recommendations to help you avoid a negative balance in the future — such as enabling deposits, gift vouchers, or table payments.

  • A "Top Up" button that lets you securely enter your card details and restore your balance immediately.

Security & confirmation: Once the top-up process is completed, a confirmation message is displayed to ensure no double charge can occur. Simply refresh your Zenchef page to see your updated balance and resume normal operations.

Common Issues

  • The orange banner is not disappearing after the top-up — Refresh your Zenchef page after completing the top-up. The banner will disappear once your balance has been updated.

  • The "Top Up" button is not visible — Make sure you are on the Revenue > Accounting page. The top-up option is only available from that section.

  • I am concerned about being charged twice — A confirmation message is shown at the end of the top-up flow specifically to prevent any duplicate charge. If you have any doubt, do not repeat the process and contact our support team.
