This feature is available on all plans.
When a customer opens your booking widget via its direct link, the background image you upload will replace the default black background. Note that the background image is not displayed when the widget is embedded on your website via SDK integration. It also appears in your Click & Collect widget and in the Zenchef Guest App.
To get the best result, make sure your image meets the following requirements before uploading:
Format: JPG or PNG
Maximum file size: 5 MB
Maximum resolution: 2880 x 2048 px
Orientation: Landscape only (4:3 ratio — portrait images are not supported)

Before choosing your image, keep in mind that it will be visible to your customers in three places: the booking widget (when opened via direct link), the Click & Collect widget, and the Zenchef Guest App. Choosing a high-quality, on-brand visual will help reinforce your restaurant's identity across all these touchpoints.
2. How to add your background image
Adding your background image takes just a few steps from your Zenchef account settings.
Log in to your Zenchef account.
Click on the upload area and select your image from your computer.
Make sure your file meets the requirements listed above (JPG or PNG, max 5 MB, landscape orientation).
Save your changes.
Once saved, your image will appear as the background of your booking widget when customers open it via the direct booking link. It will also be visible in your Click & Collect widget and in the Zenchef Guest App.
💡 Tip: Use a photo that reflects your restaurant's atmosphere — a beautiful shot of your dining room, a signature dish, or your venue's exterior.
To remove your background image at any time, return to the same settings page and click the trash icon next to your uploaded image, then save your changes.

Common issues
My image won't upload — Check that your file is in JPG or PNG format and does not exceed 5 MB. If the file is too large, you can compress it using a free online tool before uploading again.
My image appears stretched or cropped — Make sure your image is in landscape orientation with a 4:3 ratio. Portrait images or non-standard ratios may not display as expected.
The background is not showing on my website — The background image only appears when the booking widget is opened via its direct link. It does not display when the widget is embedded on your website via SDK integration.
My image looks blurry — For the best quality, use an image with a resolution as close as possible to 2880 x 2048 px.
