What you need to know
It is possible to offer your customers Gift Cards with a variable amount, a fixed amount or even for a very specific offer.
For Gift Cards with a fixed or variable amount : the voucher amount does not include VAT at purchase, as VAT will only apply when the voucher is redeemed and invoiced through the restaurant's POS system. Therefore, be sure to issue a receipt when it is used in your establishment. The Zenchef module allows you to select offers online and pay for them, think of it as a payment terminal.
In order to receive payments, you need to create a Zenchef Payment online payment account, via this page in your Zenchef account.
1. Creating your Gift Cards
The first step is to create one or more vouchers. To do this, go to Settings > Revenue > Gift Cards
Three voucher formats are available to you, and you can use all of them.
1. Create a Gift Card with a personalised value:
Click to edit the field "Allow customers to purchase a Gift Card with a personalised value".
Enter the value, that is the price range within which your customer can choose their voucher. For example, you offer to purchase a voucher with a free amount between €30 and €150.
Optionally add a description.
Choose a validity period: 1, 2, 3 or 4 years
Make sure to respect the minimum validity period by country (indicated in ZenchefOS)
Optional: Add an image to personalise your Gift Card shop:
This image will be displayed only on the shop, not on the voucher sent to the customer.
You can upload it by drag-and-drop or by selecting a file from your device.

Accepted formats: JPEG, JPG, PNG or WEBP
Maximum size: 2 MB
Recommended ratio: 3:2 (e.g. 1190 x 842 px)
2. Create a fixed-value Gift Card:
In the "Gift Card" section, click the Add button.
Enter the value of the voucher.
Optionally add a description.
Choose a validity period: 1, 2, 3 or 4 years.
Make sure to respect the minimum validity period by country (indicated in ZenchefOS).
Optional: Add an image to personalise your gift voucher shop:
This image will be displayed only on the shop, not on the voucher sent to the customer.
You can upload it by drag-and-drop or by selecting a file from your device.

3. Create a gift card
The gift card can also allows you to offer a specific offer (Valentine's Day Menu, 5-course Tasting Menu, etc). The voucher will only be usable for this offer.
Since the content of the experience is known, VAT is included and calculated, and can be indicated when creating the voucher.
In the "Gift cards" section, click the Add icon
Enter a name. Example: "5-course tasting menu".
Set the amount.
Optionally add a description.
Choose the validity period: 1, 2, 3 or 4 years
Respect local minimum validity period requirements (visible in ZenchefOS)
You can add a photo to personalise the display of your Gift Cards shop (this image will not appear on the voucher itself):
Use drag-and-drop or click to upload an image
Recommended format: 3:2 ratio (e.g. 1190x842 px), JPEG/JPG/PNG/WEBP, maximum size 2 MB
Save at the bottom of the page.
2. Publish your Gift Cards module
If you have a Zensite (website built by Zenchef), a button should have appeared directly on the booking module, to offer online sales (or at the latest within the next hour).
If you have a website not created by Zenchef, you will need to contact the person responsible for your site to add a button that opens your new Gift Card module. To do this, use the "Gift Card" Widget link available in the "Integration" tab of your Zenchef account.
3. View your Gift Cards
You can view the list of your Gift Cards directly in your Zenchef space.
4. Redeem your Gift Cards
When your customer comes to redeem their voucher, go to the Gift Cards list.
Use the magnifying glass by entering the customer's name who made the purchase or the code :
Change the status of the voucher by clicking on its "Paid" status.
Partially redeem the voucher according to the amount consumed by your customer. The voucher status will change to "in progress".
Or fully redeem the voucher. The voucher status will change to "used".
5. FAQs
What do the Gift Card look like for our customers?
The purchaser of the Gift Card will receive an email with the payment receipt and order confirmation. A second email is also sent, containing a gift card with the code of the voucher to use. The email address receiving this second email is customisable, allowing your customer to send it directly to the voucher recipient.
The visual of the gift card is not yet customisable.
Can I set a validity period different from the proposed ones?
No, only durations of 1, 2, 3 or 4 years are available. However, it is possible to extend the validity period of a customer's voucher if you wish.
