How to set up item options?

What you need to know / Tips

  • Add-ons are configured from the web version of your Zenchef account.

  • Go to Settings > Menus > Item add-ons.

  • Add-ons will only appear if the items belong to an active menu available on the Click & Collect module.

1. Configure a menu with dish selection

1.1 Create a menu from existing items

1.1.1 Create an item add-on

  • Go to the Item add-ons section.

  • Click on New add-on.

  • Name the section (e.g., Starter).

  • Add choices by selecting Existing item.

  • Define a surcharge if necessary.

  • Use order rules to make the choice mandatory.

  • Click Create.

  • Repeat these steps for each section (Starter, Main course, Dessert).

1.1.2 Link add-ons to an item

  • Create an item that will be your menu (preferably in a menu dedicated to menus/formulas).

  • In Add-ons linked to the item, click on Add an add-on.

  • Select the add-ons.

  • Save.

Note: Add-ons will only be visible if the items belong to an active menu on the Click & Collect module.

1.2 Create a menu using a text-type add-on

Important: This configuration does not allow you to limit the stock of items within the menu.

  • Create your add-ons using the text type.

  • The process is identical to creation from an existing item.

2. Configure a dish with add-ons

Example: a burger with multiple add-ons

  • Cooking choice (mandatory)

  • Choice of up to 4 toppings

  • Choice of optional paid extras

2.1 Create a cooking add-on (mandatory)

  • Go to Item add-ons.

  • Click on New add-on.

  • Name the section: Cooking.

  • Add choices using text (e.g., rare, medium, well done).

  • Make this choice mandatory using order rules.

  • Click Create.

2.2 Create an add-on for up to 4 toppings

  • Create a new item add-on.

  • Add text choices for the toppings.

  • Limit the selection to a maximum of 4 add-ons.

  • Save.

2.3 Create an add-on for paid extras

  • Create a new item add-on.

  • Add text choices for paid extras.

  • Save.

Note 1: Do not set a limit if you want the customer to choose freely.
Note 2: Order restrictions do not apply to optional extras.

2.4 Link add-ons to the dish

  • Create the dish (e.g., Burger).

  • In Add-ons linked to the item, click Add an add-on.

  • Select the add-ons.

  • Click Create.

3. Appearance of configurations on Click & Collect and Order Book

3.1 Menu with dish selection

  • The customer builds their menu with the mandatory add-ons.

  • An order summary appears before validation.

  • You receive the detailed order in your order book.

3.2 Dish with add-ons

  • The customer builds their burger with limited add-ons and extras.

  • An order summary appears before validation.

  • You receive the detailed order in your order book.
