How to Set Up Online Reservation Modification?

What you need to know

Online reservation modification allows your customers to update certain details of their booking (time, number of guests, etc.) without having to call you.
You can define a time limit before the reservation, after which changes are no longer allowed.

Once activated, customers will see a link in their confirmation email allowing them to modify their reservation within the allowed time frame.

If you're using manual reservation confirmation, you will need to confirm the booking again after the customer makes a change.

Important: Reservations secured with a credit card imprint or prepayment cannot be modified online at this time. An improvement is coming soon to allow adjustments based on customer changes and automatically update the associated amounts.

 

1. Set up from the Web application

Enable the online reservation modification option from your service settings.

  • Log in to your Zenchef account via a web browser (preferably Google Chrome).

  • Go to Settings > Service & Reservations > Services

  • Click on the service you want to edit

  • Enable the “Online reservation modification” field

  • Set a time limit (e.g. 2 hours before the reservation)

  • Click “Save” at the bottom of the page

 

2. Set up from the iOS and Android apps

This option is only available on the iOS app. Android users must use the Web app.

  • Log in to your Zenchef account from the iOS app

  • Go to Settings > Reservations > Service types

  • Tap the service you want to edit

  • Enable the “Allow the customer to modify their reservation online” field

  • Set a time limit (e.g. 2 hours before the reservation)

  • Tap “Save” in the top-right corner

Common issues

  • My customer can't modify their reservation
    The time limit set in your service settings may have already passed, or the reservation may be secured with a payment (credit card imprint or prepayment). See the “What you need to know” section above.

FAQs

  • How do I know if the option is activated?
    If the switch is enabled in your settings and a time limit has been defined, your customers will be able to modify their reservation within the allowed time frame.

  • Why isn’t the modification link visible?
    Check that the option is activated and that the confirmation email includes the correct content. If the reservation is too close in time (based on the set limit), the modification link will not appear.
