What you need to know
The "Digital Menu" feature allows you to share a menu with your customers (e.g. a daily menu or an event menu) by sending it directly via email from their reservation, or by including it in the confirmation email.
This enhances their dining experience and ensures they have all the necessary information before their visit.
1. Create a digital menu
Step 1: Create the menu
- From your Zenchef account, go to Settings > Menus & Takeaway > Menus and Items > Digital Menus
- Click the "New digital menu" button
- Enter a menu name. For example: "Weekend Menu"
- In the "Menu type" field, choose your preferred format, then either insert a redirect link to your menu or upload a PDF document.
- Click "Create" to save.
Step 2: Link the menu to the corresponding service
- Go to your Services section.
- Click the service you want to modify.
- Go to the "Advanced settings" tab (the 6th tab).
- In the "Service menu" field, select the digital menu you just created.
- Save your changes.
For example: click on your Saturday service and link the digital menu "Weekend Menu."
Step 3: Enable notifications
- Make sure the "Digital Menu" notification is enabled for email in your settings.
(Note: Menu sending via SMS is not available.)
Step 4: Check prerequisites
To receive the menu, the reservation must:

Be booked for the relevant service (e.g., weekend service)

Include a valid email address to receive the notification and digital menu
2. Include the digital menu in notifications
You can embed a digital menu into one of the notifications sent to your customers. For example, include your menu in the reservation confirmation email.

Go to your Client Notifications section

Edit the desired notification

Add the variable "Link to the digital menu page"

3. Use the "Send service menu" action
The "Send service menu" option allows you to send an email containing the menu for a specific service to existing reservations.

Make sure the customer’s email address is saved in the reservation

From the relevant reservation, click the "Send service menu" action button

The digital menu doesn’t redirect to the correct menu.
Check which menu is linked to your service, directly in its settings under the "Service menu" field. -
I have no menu available when clicking on "Service menu."

FAQs

Can I generate QR codes?
Yes, the Digital Menu feature also includes a QR code generator. Create your menu and download the QR code to print from the Digital Menus tab in your settings. -
I printed QR codes on a display, can I change the menu regularly without reprinting the display?
Yes, just update the link or document associated with your digital menu. This allows you to keep the same QR code while changing its content.
