How to activate the Credit Card Hold ?

In this article, you will learn how to activate the Credit Card Hold feature for your bookings. This feature allows you to request a financial guarantee from your customers to limit no-shows.

What you need to know / Tips

The Credit Card Hold is an effective tool to reduce no-shows by requesting a financial guarantee at the time of booking. To activate it, you will need to create a Zenchef Payment account and connect it to your Zenchef space.
This feature is an option that is not included in all subscriptions; please contact our Support team if you wish to subscribe to it. 

 

1. Set up the Credit Card Hold from the web application

The Credit Card Hold is activated directly in the services.

  • Go to the Settings, then to the Planning tab.

  • You now see your daily services. Click Edit on the one for which you want to activate the bank card imprint. 

  • Go to the fourth tab of this service's settings, called Payment Options. 

  • Activate the Credit Card Hold field and set the following parameters:

    • Amount to request per person.

    • The minimum number of covers from which the imprint will be requested.

    • Activate automatic cancellation if you wish. It is used to cancel reservation requests to whom you have sent a bank card imprint request and who have not responded. 

  • Click Save and Close.

  • Go to the 3rd tab of the service, called Online Automation. 

  • In the Late Cancellation Deadline section, configure the deadline you want to allow. This is the time from which you will be entitled to charge this imprint.

  • Click Save and Close.

2. Set up the Credit Card Hold from the Zenchef iOS application

To activate the Credit Card Hold via the iOS app:

  •  

    • Go to the Settings, then to the Bookings tab and Service types.

    • You now see your daily services. Click Edit on the one for which you want to activate the bank card imprint. 

    • Click on the "Credit Card Hold Settings" field

    • Activate the Credit Card Hold field and set the following parameters:

      • Amount to request per person.

      • The minimum number of covers from which the imprint will be requested. 

      • Activate automatic cancellation if you wish. It is used to cancel reservation requests to whom you have sent a Credit Card Hold request and who have not responded. 

    • Return to the previous tab, the service settings one. 

    • In the Late Cancellation Deadline section, configure the deadline you want to allow. This is the time from which you will be entitled to charge this imprint.

    • Click Save.

Common cases

  • My customers were able to book without a Credit Card Hold.
    Check that you have correctly linked a Zenchef Payment account to your Zenchef account. The Credit Card Hold cannot function without this. 
     

  • The Credit Card Hold is not working. 

    Several factors can prevent the Credit Card Hold from working properly. Here are the main reasons; please check them in your account:

    1. Have you created and connected your Zenchef Payment account?

    2. Have you activated the Credit Card Hold in your services' settings?

    3. Is the Credit Card Hold included in your subscription?

  • What is the difference between the Credit Card Hold and prepayment?
    The Credit Card Hold is an authorisation to charge in case of a no-show, while prepayment involves collecting the booking amount in advance.
     

  • How do I deactivate the Credit Card Hold? 
    To deactivate the Credit Card Hold feature, go to settings > Service & Booking tab. Click on the service for which you want to deactivate the Credit Card Hold. In the payment tab of the service, uncheck the Credit Card Hold field.
