What You Need to Know / Tips
Credit card guarantee is an effective tool to reduce no-shows by requiring a financial guarantee when customers make a reservation. To enable it, you will need to create a Stripe account and connect it to your Zenchef platform.
This feature is not included in all subscription plans, so please contact our Support team if you would like to activate it.
This option is not available for reservations made through Google Reserve.
1. Setting Up the credit card guarantee on the Web App
Activate credit card guarantee directly in the service settings.

Go to the Settings section, then navigate to Service & Reservations, Services & Experiences, and finally click on Service.

Select the service where you want to activate credit card guarantee and click Edit.

Navigate to the fourth tab in the service settings, called Payment Options.

Enable the credit card guarantee option and configure the following parameters:

Amount to be requested per person.
-
Minimum number of guests required for preauthorization to be requested.

Enable Automatic Cancellation if desired. This option cancels reservations where a preauthorization request was sent but not confirmed.

Click Save and Close.

Go to the third tab in the service settings, called Online Automation.

In the Late Cancellation Deadline section, set the deadline after which you are authorized to charge the credit card guarantee.

Enable credit card guarantee directly in the Zenchef iOS app settings.

Common Issues

Customers were able to book without credit card guarantee.
Check that your Stripe account is correctly linked to your Zenchef account. Credit card guarantee cannot function without this connection.

Customers can no longer book via Google Reserve.
Credit card guarantee is not compatible with Google’s booking module. See this article for more details on Google Reserve limitations.

What is the difference between card preauthorization and prepayment?
Credit card guarantee is an authorization to charge a fee in case of a no-show, whereas prepayment means the reservation amount is charged in advance.
